I have thought about that too, they need to be replaced, so that is next along with fuel filter and checking fuel rail pressure.

Does anyone know the test specs for the cam position sensor?

Beezel where are you

Muddy Oval?

O2 sensor will not cause what is being described, when they fail your engine goes to a neutral place where it will run OK, usually with less power and poor MPG but nothing irratic.

now there is an idea if the TPS was out of whack or not working the ECU couldn't place a cell on the fuel map and if the O2's aren't feeding good readings it may just cause my problem. I'm adding that to the list of things to test thanks Terry

I would be beside myself if a failing TPS would cause poor idle and improve at higher rpms.

I am a little lost without the idiot light not lighting up at all. Cam sensor should trigger a MIL, O2 should trigger a MIL... TPS should trigger an MIL... what the hell is that MIL for again? ha ha.

TPS hmmm then again, why not... thanks Lucus.

Hey I have couple of those TPS units sitting around. One is on an extra throttle body I have and the other I took off mine. Well replacing it with a new one did nothing to fix my problems I had. So I suspect it is still good after all. You are welcome to one if you want to try it out. PM me and I will send it in the mail. Dont worry about cost, you can have it if you think it will help ya out.

Well at this point nothing makes sense thanks to Lucas, I'm going to test the TPS and if it gives me any funky reasons I'll take you up on that offer. I think the reason the idiot lights aren't going off is because I haven't had the damn thing running long enough to get any

Don't forget that it may have a code already but it hasn't happened twice to trigger the light (thats the way VW does theirs anyway). Have you also visualy checked the throtle plate to make sure it is not gummed/carboned up??? Alot of the Passats turbo's come in with dirty throtle bodies and give us drivebility problems....

Like i mentioned previously...it's going to be something real simple and dumb...usualy is....later, Dean
