Funny, I was just experiencing the same thing tonight. Cold then cool. I think the compressor is designed to prevent itself from running constant, like maybe a thermostat that cools the compressor. Just a thought.
Any ideas out there that may help us?

Guys. A major part of the problem is more than likely based around relative humidity in your atmospheric area. I know around Atlanta, it gets very humid and to understand an A/C system, you need to know that it works by removing humidity from the air. If you had the same cold temps coming from the vents with no de-humidification, you would still sweat more than likely. Hope this helps.

How long is the interval between cold and just cool? Sometimes the engine warms up and then you get that parasitcal heat creeping in the cold lines. In my ex-vehicle, I had wrapped the exposed to the engine compartment a/c hose with wrap-around insulation. Afterwards, the difference was really noticeable.
I will do the same when I finished with the family emergencies and have the time to finish everything broke on my D1. Adam in NYC ( ) |

Is there any kind of climate control on the Discos?
I noticed in mine some times the AC is blowing then it just slows down.. Then will come back full power.. I think it even shuts off sometimes.

Gentry..what your experiencing is more than likely completely normal. Without going into great, boring detail about a/c system operation..the a/c system is indeed designed to cycle the compressor on/off. This is necessary, or the expansion valve would freeze up solid, and then you'd have no a/c at all.

My a/c stopped blowing 2 times each time I hit the top of my dash lightly and it started blowing cold again right after I hit it. It stopped both times while it was around 90 degrees out here in NY.
