Is there anyway to disengage the alarm? I was just going to take out the fuse...but didn't know if it was working w/some other electrical thing...

Kelli,
I know it can be shut down by using a test book to turn it off thru the ECU. I am not sure what else you will loose if you pull a fuse, such as power locks and maybe even the engine disable system.
How about replacing the bad loack actuator that is causing you all you grief???
Been thru any mud puddles lately?

If you mean: how to permanently disable the alarm, don't. We've been warned by the dealer that the alarm activates the engine demobilizer circuitry and buggering around with it will cause real trouble. Fiddling with it could cunger up "The Dark Lord", Lucas, himself!

If you just want to lock the car and not have the alarm activated, then use the key. Turn the key in either front door lock toward the front of the vehicle and hold it like that for 5 - 10 seconds...this locks the doors but does not activate the alarm system. (page 16, Owner's manual) I have never tried this on the rear door however.

Well, you know my 'education' w/ECU.... I don't think I'll take that route. My locks magically started working again w/my key. I think it's because I'm closer to finding a name for it...and have not cursed it at all...

I don't think I've ever heard it described that way!

Yes, well, I am still so cheap to go get my keyless remote programmed... ...that I only use my key. I can only unlock the driver's side.....if I unlock the passenger side...the alarm goes off! Sometimes, it goes off randomly and I'm not sure what I did.

"I'm STILL in the 'honeymoon stage' w/my LR....."
So the question of the day is" Who wears the pants in this relationship", this is an important issue if you are ever to move forward.

Well, w/my lack of capabilities of fixing anything on my rover as of yet.......IT is wearing the pants! Besides, I just realized that if I have a flat tire...I don't have one of those things to take the lug nuts off with...

Besides, I'd rather drive 'Mona' first...ya know...to work on my off-road skills....

Kelli,
Does the State of Indiana let you drive off of your property? We need to get your truck "Kellized", ready for anything.

The current status of my truck should be considered "Kellized"......what I need is it 'Mikeized'....LOL!

Well, as we both know...merely a phone call will not contribute to my LR problems...but only to get a few laughs out of you... So, can I buy you a plane ticket to Indiana? Let's just hope I don't get a flat tire on my way to pick you up from the airport.

Do not take the fuse out cuz that wont allow the engine to start. Cuz it connetcs to the ecu it's pretty much a perfect security device. Im not to sure on how to take out the alarm system. But don't take out the fuse!!
