Default Another window issue

98 Disco. My front driver side window is stuck. For a little while now it would get stuck and I would have to try and role it up and down and put pressure on the window to get it up. It would usually pop back into place. Now it is about an inch for being all the way up but will not move. When i try and move it up and down it will move a tiny bit mostly the back part of the window. has anyone had this issue? I am hoping to find out if it is the regulator or the motor that is the issue or if I have it off track somehow. I took of the panel but it is difficult to see much. They made the windows with a lot of room to work. NOT. Help

Might need to replace the window lift motor.

Before you go through removing the regulator and motor, try adjusting the window frame. Sometimes that's all you need to do because when the frame is out of alignment the window can bind up as you're describing. There are a couple of bolts at the bottom of eash side of the frame (10mm IIRC) and a few across the top (13mm IIRC). Loosen them and see if it helps at all with the window's movement. It's worth the effort if it solves your problem. Good luck.

Probably not the motor, though you may have cooked it by now, trying to get the stuck regulator to move. It is almost certainly one of the cheapassed little plastic wheels on the end of the regulator arms that has either disintegrated, or bound up inside it's track (not the track the glass travels in).

Put your ear by the door, push the button, if you hear the motor it's probably fine. Probably the regulator. There's a roller on there, el cheapo plastic. They break, then the window doesn't go up or down. Or, they use el cheap spot welds where the gear is welded on, they break too.

Thanks to everyone that responded. You guys were spot on, the little cheap plastic roller broke. Amazing, I had it broken for a year join this site and have it fixed in less than two hours. Cheers Mates.
