My truck started backfiring throught the air intake on sat. and I thought it could be a maf problem so I installed a another maf that works yesterday and it still is backfiring. I am leaning toward the tps but does anybody have any insight? Oh and I erased the codes after putting the new maf on so I don't have those either. Also it won't really rev over 1750 rpms either.

Gasoline Otto Engine No start/Misfire Diag Principles.
Backfiring is almsot always I timing issue. Shotgunning sensors will not cure that. However, the Crank Sensor does come loose, and will affect timing.

The airflow sensor would not likely be the cause of backfiring back through the intake, but it can quickly be ruined by it.
Intake backfiring can be a result of timing, or crossfiring through bad wires, but more frequently it results from a worn cam, or other valvetrain wear, such as a sloppy chain or worn chainwheels. Exhaust backfiring is caused by timing, crossfiring, carbon buildup or excessive fueling. How many miles on your truck |

The tests I outlined will point out why you are backfiring...
But, testing involves actually doing something. Its easier for this board to be spoonfeed the answer.
