I did a perfunctory (and fruitless) search of LRO for specifications on a battery for my '95 Disco I (V8).
As much as I would like to replace my dead batt with an Optima (or similar HD battery), that's just not an option in Bolivia. In fact, the reason that I write tonight is to ask y'all if you have some basic specs for a replacement battery. Both Haynes' and the workshop manual aren't a whole lot of help on this one, either. I only have available two local brands of batteries (you guys haven't heard of either brand) and they normally fit them based on physical dimensions (the biggest one that will fit in the engine bay) without any attention paid to CCA or the like... Aside from telling the battery dealer that the space allowed for a battery is 19 cm wide by 28 cm long by 22 cm deep, what other things should I look for? TIA!

The more CCA's you can get the better, but I wouldn't worry too much cause you don't have all the computers and crap that the newer trucks have. Doubt you will be able to find a more rugged battery for a 4wheeler down there so don't lose sleep over which to buy.

Thanks Mike.
Just got home from the auto market - turns out that they don't know what CCAs are and only give you a choice on AH. I got the biggest battery that fits in the tray: 65 AH. Cheers,

I know what CCA's are, but my unfortunate battery dealers didn't (nor does it appear to really matter to them)...
It snows in the Andean range, but not down in the Amazon basin where I'm at.
