Default Blowing Fuse

Well, Luke started blowing the fuse for the passenger side lights. This also is the fuse for the dash lites, alarm if you leave the lights on and all parking lights
Must be a short somewhere. Anybody have any idea where to look first?

When I replace the fuse all the lights work until you drive it about 1/2 mile .
All the wiring looks good , Luke is not rusty at all , and about the only thing weve had done was the dealer ship put in a new gas tank & fuel pump , from the recall . Which door wiring harness ? I`m assuming the passenger door.
Gotta be a short somewhere just dont know where to look , the obvious wiring and stuff looks good and clean. edit. Well I just noticed when the wife left for work the pass side brake light doesnt work and when she uses the brake the tail light goes out , then when she lets off, it comes back on. Oh well out comes the rear seat again and will replace all the bulbs and clean the sockets. I did notice that the rear fog lamps work good , those will at least give her tail lights when the tail light fuse blows. Edit Took the tail / Brake light bulb out again, Spread the prongs on the bulb holder put it back in and everything seems to work ok. The fuse hasnt blown again yet.

my best advice is to remove the tail lite and drive the vehicle to see if it shorts out.

if not then double check by switching the lites and driving.

If it goes beyond that then you need to start basic diag. check the wiring diagrams for extra connectors and disconnect and test it again. identifying a short requires basically a simple plan of elimination till you come up with the solution.

Unfortunately unless you have a short finder you might be using alot of fuses unless you can visually see the wiring. Then you check the wiring by hand.

This problem is happening to me too, it seems to surface when I use the cruise control then after the drive I check the lights and fuse #8 is blown taking out all thr RH lights and instrument lights except the headlights. I haven't plugged in the trailer harness yet until I figure this one out.

Hi all,

I had a similar problem (fascia fuse box fuse number 8 (F8 - 10 amp) blowing regularly, but not immediately after being replaced; passenger side tail lights, dash lights, glove compartment light, lights-on bell all tie to this fuse). I eventually traced the problem to the glove compartment light, which had a broken plastic keeper that resulted in the exposed bulb holder contacting the surrounding metal frame. A truly poor implementation that is likely to occur due to the limited lifespan of the plastic.

Best regards,
