Borla Cat-Back exhaust? - Land Rovers Only

Just curious, is this truely a bolt on or will I have to take this in to the muffler shop and have installed? Anyone put one of these on themselves?

BTW... if running this, have you noticed any increase fuel mileage or increased HP as described for the product?

The only system I saw on a P38 caused problems- but I'm not sure who made it. NRP or Borla or something- anyway, it would crush the o2 sensors and short them out any time the air suspension failed... which is a lot on P38's.
The guy has shelled out about $2300 in repairs and troubleshooting because of his exhaust system and air system but he won't change either of 'em.
Best accessory for a P38 is a 'for sale' sign...

Well..our P38 has been great!!! But there are holes in the exhaust..just wondering if I should go OEM or aftermarket

The Borla is well expensive. You should be able to have a custom exhaust fabbed for the vehicle for a lot less money.

It is worth some HP but not a great deal, most HP comes from scavenging on a n/a setup which require long tube headers. A better Y pipe and cats will also make a difference, but hay I guess thats why its called an exhaust system rather than just a component.

P38's use exactly the same basic engine, heads, intake they are just larger displacement if you have the 4.6 the same bolt ons will work just as well.

Better intake with a CAI and FULL exhaust including headers. Cam and heads would be next up. Or some even rip out the EFI and run a 4brl carb instead. You can even ditch the air suspension for regular coils if you want although depending on use it's not needed. 280bhp should be easy from the 4.6 with 300bhp possible although it's be a bit wilder.

If the air suspension is playing up and not working properly it's usually water in the system. The compressor produces water as a by-product, as all compressors do. But most people don't ever drain the water away and sadly this includes most of the dealers. There should be some drain plugs you can access then I think you just need to leave the vehicle for 30mins to an hour with the engine running and it usually sorts itself out.

A service guide should expand on this, or I'm sure there's a writeup somewhere on the net.

A friend with a D1 had cat back pipes both sides w/Flowmasters done at a local muffler shop after he crushed some pipes (long story)... done for less than $200 for everything installed. And it sounds damn good.

Don't count on a MPG gain. Its a Land Rover.

a couple of weeks ago i put the headman headers, catco converter, and a flowmaster 50 all run thru 3" pipe. sounds amazing, it gave me some giddy off the line ( bosch premium plugs and wires helped too) and the MPG has gone up atleast 2. not to mention gaining about 8-10 horses. total cost to me: $750

When I had my glasspack put on about a month and a half ago, I thought it would sound crazy loud, replacing the huge muffler in the center, plus I had hacked my tail pipe resonator. Plus I left the pipe the way it was with out putting in a pipe in place of the resonator. It still sounded nice, and not loud at all, then again I have the 4.2. Dunno if that makes a difference.

Later on I put on a section of tail pipe, and a resonated tip, and if anything, made it quieter, can't hear it on the freeway at all, plus makes it sound bolder.
