Thumbs down Brake light and Blinker problem

So today after leaving the mall, i made a turn and noticed my blinker didnt turn on AT ALL. I figured it was a fuse, so when i got home funrover helped me out and determined that it is NOT a fuse..he thinks it might be a ground wire that was ripped out yesterday 4-wheeling. What do you guys (and girls) think??? thanks in advance!

does the hazards work.

if they do then its more likely an issue with the turn signal indicator.

does it work in both directions.

In the few min I looked at it here is what I found..... NO Blinkers... No Stop/Brake Lights....... The fuse was good.... He still has hazards, but very dim..... Here is the other problems, He showed up at my house...... No is stuck...... Because he does not have brake lights he can't shift out of park.... Tomorrow I will get a better look at the disco... I remember reading about this awhile back....... Is this common?

Sounds like a ground problem. Not enough power to activate the brake switch so he can't shit the truck.
I would suggest you check the trailor wire harness, all sockets and the grounds.

That was my thought..However the only area that I can find(IN THE DIAGRAMS I FOUND) in the harness is a huge head connector piiece under the pass side dash....BUt I will have to look when I get keys to open his truck!

Aaron,
You should be able to by pass or jump the brake switch so you can start and move the truck.

Default How to bypass the brake switch.

Grab a paper clip and go to the cargo door. Unplug the connecters on the cargo door window for the heater grid and the third brake light, They are right next to each other and are a singal black spade style connecter (Make sure it is the power side of the grid, if memory serves me right it is the drivers side connecters but check it with a test light to be sure). Be careful when removing so you don`t break the spade off the glass. Now take the paper clip and use it as a jumper to jump the black connecters together.
Now go in your car and start it up.Hit the switch for the cargo door window heater and now you can shift it out of park. Make sure you shut off the cargo door window heater switch once you get it in drive.

As far as the directional and brake issue goes I would check all the the connections for the rear bulbs. I have found many of the connecters melt and/or corrode in the taillight housings of Discoverys and have them cause electrical anomalies.
Brake switches are a common failure but there may be a common demoninator with the directional and brake issue such as a poor ground causing a circuit to feed through a filament in search of ground.
Check the basics first!.
Good luck and let me know how you make out.
