Default Busted Bracket!

I just snapped the stud on my passenger rear upper shock mount bracket that bolts to the frame. Has anyone encountered this?? Any advice?

thanks in advance.

George... time to get a new one. You can probably order one from AB or RoversNorth... or you can get a used one at www.britishrecycling.com Or yet another route.... you can replace both of them with the extended ones for longer shocks...

Thanks for the info! I was hoping someone would recommend a better/cheaper parts resource than the dealer. I've only had this car for about a month so I'm still in the LR learning phase. I've been wrenching on CARS for about ten years and this is my first truck/4x4. Concepts are the same, but its a whole new animal, really. Its a lot of fun and I'm lovin the disco. Can you go into more detail about the advantages of the extended pins. Do they support stock shock with the ability to add longer or do you have to switch to longer shocks right away?

As I post this, I see that you have 4,444 posts and I have 4! Ha!

Thanks,

george

You will have to get different shocks, but it's worth it if you off-road.... www.rovertym.com and www.rockware.net both have great set-ups..... The different bracket gives your shocks more ability to travel....thus giveing you more articulation... You will not be dissappointed....if you want a stock one used you could also try www.pikespeakrovers.com and see if they have one!!! Also..Welcome to the forum.....

Thanks for the reply. I also ran into some difficult replacing the front shocks cuz the 8mm nut that holds the shaft in place was too rusty and soft to get any kind of grip. Is there another method to remove the lower fixings? Sawzall??

I picked up some Monroe's. I plan on upgrading in the (maybe nearish) future, but I really just needed to get something in there for now. I bought the truck w/ 89k and its got 91.5k now. It still had the factory shocks and they were starting to go. But it was the shock bushings that were real bad and the rattling was driving me nuts. I could wait any longer so I went with the Monroe's to tide me over.

LOL.... we could always get into the whole matched/unmatched spring debate! Go check out www.expeditionexchange.com and look up OME (Old Man Emu) springs and shocks. EE is a bit more expensive but by looking at their website you can get a good idea about what to do.... good luck and yes, FunRover and I will be there to catch you when you fall for the mod bug.
