Default a/c + y-pipe = steam?

1998 Discovery I.. So after a quick 10-15 minute drive this morning I parked & got out of my truck & heard a very loud hissing sound coming from under.. I looked & saw water/heard lots of steam (checked.. it was water) coming from the two sections of the Y-pipe(?) just drips.. forming two fist sized puddles. the pic is of just one & the red is where the water & steam was coming from. Not sure what happened here.. The a/c was running & I am guessing it might be a leak or just normal condensation hitting a very hot exhaust, but it looked suspiciously like it was coming from the seams (one of which I have in red in the pic). On my very careful ride home I left the a/c off and didn't have any issues under her when I got back home. Temp gauge was normal the whole time. I'm probably being paranoid but just wanted to throw this at you guys to see if it sounds familiar or if anyone can tell me what can go screwy with the a/c system just above this area pictured. What boggles me is that it was doing this on both sides of the pipe, in the same place.

Just a quick guess: there's an a/c condensation drain (nipple) right above your transmission that may be splashing on the hot exhaust. Once it's cool, take a look right above it - it may be just that = no problem...

Good luck!

There are actually 2 nipples, one on either side of the tranny coming thru the floor board that drain the A/C condinsation. Make sure they are both open and flowing, should only take a wire or screw driver to open them up.

Drip Hiss, drip hiss, drip hiss... A/C.. no biggie.

Its actually an undocumented feature... designed to attract kitty cats and thus scare away mice that might nest under the hood

3 votes for no biggie.. whew.. That first look at possible steamy cats was a scarey one .. then the puddle check was scarey too. I think my paranoia got worse due to a junker pick-up in front of me on the highway.. I smelled his exhaust & thought it was mine. I love it when things go in my favor.. what a welcomed change from my previous LR. Thanks dudes.
