Default Cann't open back door of 1996 disco

The door is stuck in a half open position. I have the door panel off and everythings seams to be working fine but the door will not open nor will it latch properly if you give it a good shove. The exterior handle and interior handle seam to move the internal parts. How can I get this door open so I can take the lock assembley out to look at it?

Remove the Land Rover Logo in the handle and the mechanism is right there. Oil/Lube up good and see if that works.

Quite possibly the return spring in the lock for the locking button is broken.

I did this. I put everything back together. Went to shut the dor to make sure it would open and this is when it only closed part way and now it will not open from the interior or the exterior.

I am not quite sure what you are trying to tell me. Can explain further and can I wake the repair without being able to open the door?

You can't replace the spring without taking out the locking assembly.
If the doorcard is still off, try pulling/pushing everything that moves on the lock and keep your fingers crossed. I did a rear (side) door once but that was a few years ago and I can't remember how I opened it.

TIP : After doing repairs on the doorlocks, try them first by operating the catch by hand or with a screwdriver or something .

I have a similar problem with a 99 Disco back door, but when I close the door latch by hand with my finger, it will not pop back to the open position by activating either the outside key lock or the hand opener inside.

Does anyone know of a DIY for fixing this kind of problem with the rear door lock? Thanks in advance!
