Nope. Removing the cats on a pre-GEMS truck shouldnt throw a CEL.

But on a GEMS motor (96 and up) you'll get a CEL.

Ok. Maybe I can clear something up...on a '95 you will have no problems.

My 1995 Disco has no cats. When I bought it at Land Rover of Calgary the cats were rattling. The dealership replaced the cats with a straight pipe. (believe they sent it out to Carline Muffler). I have had not problems, no CEL, etc. Have had my cats removed for about a year now. Go for it.

Also just had a custom 'performance' exhaust system installed 2 weeks ago.
I noticeable increase in power now that this engine can breathe. Get rid of the rear resonator also...

That brings me to this question: Anyone that's replaced their cats with aftermarket ones (i.e. catco) in a GEMS vehicle, have you had your CEL come on afterwards, or was everything running just fine?
