Default CD changer will work with differnt radio unit?

I just purchased a 6 disc changer to go under the seat but we have a JVC radio in the dash, but this isn't Changer going to work unless we get a factory radio LR to put in the dash, is this correct?

ALSO, someone was mentioning a security code of some kind, is this needed to get the 2 different units to communicate with eachother - or can we install both from 2 different sources and have them work together? or... maybe this was for the alarm???????????
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thank you!

Both should work together with out a problem. and i've never heard of having to put in a code. if you dont have a round style plug coming out OF the head unit, you may have to re-wire the CD changer to head unit.

however at the CD changer end, almost every plug is different. if you dig enough you may be able to find an aftermarket loom hook up that will convert the Land Rover CD changer hook up (which is rectangular) to the hook up of your choice, but if not, just run a new wire bunch from your head unit, under the carpet (run it along next to the transmission thing), and have it come out under the seat. as for power, you can splice the stock power hook up to work with the aftermarket CD changer)

the last part is assuming your rover came with the factory CD changer.
any questions, feel free to ask. i can also try to take pics.

i just installed the factory CD changer today, so i have some pics already

Thank you so much for your input- it is so hard to understand what is going on with your LR when you don't know the previous owners, ours is 13 hours away in the hills of NY! What we do have now is the factory LR CD changer- we bought one for $89 but when I went to plug it in, the power clippy thing worked just fine and powered it up but the other thingy is a round head , not rectangular like the player requires! So we have a LR factory changer , a round head under the seat and a DUMB JVC radio in the dash! So you're saying to find a rectangular head and wire that in instead of the round one we have? It looks like someone tried to put a non-LR CD Changer in, the wiring was definately tampered with down there. Also, we do not know what the changer is supposed to look like under the seat! Which way does it face? We only got one L bracket with the player for some reason and not 2, do you see this as a problem too? Any pics you have would be EXTREMELY helpful and we'd be grateful for your time.
Thank you again!

Thank you , that will be a huge help for us!! The guy we bought the changer off of said we could get the needed L bracket at any audio store- wondering also if that sounds true or not! THEN, we're hearing people talking about getting codes for the radio using the vin # from the dealer?! We are 100% lost on this one! We just simply want to put a factory radio and the factory 6 CD changer in and get it to work right, any codes needed for this? We can't even get our key fob to work with the alarm either!! AHHHHH!!!
