Default Changing the fan belt

Man! There has to be an easier way or something I'm missing. This is not the first Disco I've owned nor is it the first time I've ever changed a fan belt. But damn! I don't understand this. I was replacing my alternator a few weeks ago, thinking that was the loud noise I heard. I had to put the old one back on because the new one was different. Pushed the tensioner pulley down and slipped the belt right on.

Turned out the belt tensioner pulley was going bad, and did Tuesday night. So I put a new one on the next morning with a new belt and here come the problems. No matter what I did, I couldn't move that damn tensioner enough to put either the new belt on or the old one back on. Finally someone came by and offered his help. It took the two of us about 30 mins. and then we had to "walk" the belt on.

This has happened on both Discos; thing won't budge, after much frustration I give up and go inside. Come back out later and boom, it works like a charm.?? Like it should have the FIRST time. ARE YOU LISTENING ROVER GODS?

Funny. Mine did that not long ago. Problem was, we could not get the old belt off. The tentioner was "bottomed out", but the belt was still semi tight. Almost like the belt shrunk after the install. The new belt went right in, with no problems at all. Weird...

Default Beer!

You obviously forgot to consume the copious amounts of beer that the LR gods require for things to go well! Live and learn, baby, live and learn...

PS. Right now, I could probably go out and swap the engine out, if you know what I mean
