Default clearing a code?

well just found out that the 7th cylinder was misfiring due to the wire not being on the plug. go figure. i plugged it back in, and the truck is running a lot better.

however, the check engine light is still on, and so i guess i just need to clear the code. i do not know how to do that due to never having to (which is surprising with the crap of a line up i've had so far).

so help me. what do i do to get rid of the CEL.

Some auto stores do a code read for free so look around. If you like doing your own auto work, then invest in a mid priced codereader and play with it. They are fun. I have a Actron, a CarChip, and a cheap for $25 off of eBay that is cryptic but is the fastest code clearer( 20 seconds).

I just bought the Pro-series OBD II scanner, I got it at diydiagnostics.com. It hasn't arrived yet, I just bought it on Friday, but I expect to have it no later than Tuesday or Wednesday. I did some research before buying and that one seemed like it delivered a lot of features for the money!

so i pulled the codes yesterday at autozone for free, and the only one was the 7th cylinder misfiring. i fixed it last night, so from what your saying, i just go there, and have them pull the codes again, and it wont show so my codes will be cleared?
