Clearing codes and shutting off check engine light

Hey everyone,

My Rpms on my 95 disco 3.9 L were high at park and finally got a code 48 I had a new stepper motor that I purchased a few months back Put it in an fixed the problem Drove 300 miles today no sweat I tried clearing the code and It wont disappear .Also I am trying to turn off my check engine light by way of the White connectors under glove box and mine were unplugged and wrapped with tape So Here I sit pissed Can any 1 shed some light on this for me Let me know .
