Hi I have been having troubles with replacing my clutch fluid in Discovery I Deisel. I have romved the fluid and replaced it following the manuals recommendations but still no pedal pressure. I have done this to other cars but this time its not working out. There is just no pressure at all. Both slave and master were OK beforehand.
![]() Is a pressure bleeder required for Disco?. Can one be improvised I have access to compressed air and NPT pipe fittings etc. Has anyone seen this please? Regards. |

Richie: I had the same problem a few years ago when I flushed out the clutch system. If you have the same system in a diesel as the 4.0 V8, then you've probably just got air in the system. If you can jack up the back of the truck a few feet, try moving the pedal up and down 25X. Make sure the clutch master cylinder cap is loose (the vent coud be plugged).
In my case the system worked but the pedal was very low, so I just drove to a very steep hill, parked nose down, and pumped the pedal 50X to get the air out. Good luck. |

Thanks for your response. It turned out to be a bubble in the master cyclinder. I ended up unscrewing the line the the master cyclinder and bleeding there first then moving down to the bleed screw below on the slave.
I think that parking with the rear end up hill as you suggested would probably achieve the same thing. Thanks for the tip much appreciated. Best regards. |

Your solution of releasing trapped air at the master cylinder is very useful - I hadn't thought of that and will add the idea to my "notes" in the manual.
