Okay guys, I have had this code in the past, I bought an scanner to read the code and clear the light. The code is 1178. Cleared it and several months later, the same code returns.
Other than the MIL on the dash, I can not tell any change in the function of the engine. Maybe this is a good thing. My question is, what is this code really. I looked up the code but what is it really? Is there a way to know for sure? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Richard. |

This codes relates to ECM activity in terms of correcting a rich or lean fuel mixture. Your particular code P1178 is: Maximum Positive AMFR correction fault. P1179 is the other end of the scale is Maximum Negative AMFR correction fault.
It would seem you would have to investigate the reason your fuel mixture is intermittently(?) beyond the correction abilities of your ECM. ![]() |
