Default Coolant leak

Hey guys, I think I have my first real problem. I got home tonight and you truck smelled strongly of coolant. I can always pick up a vague scent of it, but tonight it was really strong. Anyway, looked under the hood and this is what I saw. Was hoping someone could tell me how to really diagnose where this is coming from. Was hoping it is only a gasket or something, but fear it is worse. Anyway, any help would be much appreciated. I saw fluid actively leaking, albeit very slowly from the lower arrow, and just a small puddle at the upper. Anway, any thoughts?

Could be from the valley gasket.

I had that exact same leak on my 89 RRC, turned out to be the front timing cover gasket. Replaced the gasket and all was well(with that at least).

Yeah, I kinda figured it was just a gasket, but it's nice to have some input from people that really know what they are doing. Guess I am off to Atlantic British to look for gaskets.

Or could be head gaskets, worst case scenario.

My bet is a front cover seal. You might clean the area up real good and then use a coolant pressure tester to verify, at 14 or 15#'s of pressure you shoukd get a better idea.
Good luck,
Mike

well, I drove around a bit then came back home and it was dripping pretty steadily from the front cover. So, I suppose I will just order the part and get to work. How much of a job are we talkin' here? From experience on other cars, I would think this should be easy, but this will be the first time crackin' anything open on my Disco.

You sure it's not leaking from the hose?

Valley Gasket took me around 8 hours. Head gasket took me two days (it was my first and I made sure to clean all parts and put them back in order). Water Pump takes about 3 hours. Don't know how long front cover would take.

Mike????

no, it is defiantly not coming from the hose. Anyway, gasket ordered, should be here first of next week, guess there's no Rover for the weekend. I guess I might post up some pics of takin' it apart and stuff, just in case some other newbie has the same problem. Think it is worth it?
