Default correcting mph reading ...

well I know when I lifted my TJ I corrected my speedometer with no speedo gears. How do I correct this issue with my DI? Is this done by computer or is there a gear that needs to be changed and is it even possible?

Thanks

You can get electronic speedo correction devices. Some actually have a switch on them so you can run road and off road tyres of different sizes and keep the speedo correct. Just do a search on the net.

Verify the spedo is wrong first.

With my 1995 classic it read atleast 10% low. After my lift and changing from 205/80 29" to 235/85 32" my speedo was dead on!!! So the conspiracy side of me says... wow my warranty ended 10% early mileage wise.

Plus as a Firefighter/EMT don't you have a get out of jail free card!

That works both ways. My D2 speedo was right on, when I put bigger tires on it slowed it 10% so I got extra warranty miles....heheh.

I haven't yet. Don't even have bigger tires yet but figured it would be an issue once I did.

Thanks guys

I lived in Albuquerque at the time, where my good friend from college was a sheriff's deputy so he clocked me. I had him do this because near the Albuquerque international airport a trailer with a radar gun and a speed display was set up to show you how fast you were going compared to the speed limit sign next to it, and that seemed to read a bit low for my RR.

After the tire change, which happened in Colorado, I happened upon another trailer and it was dead on.

By the way natyboy, your Disco I has more similar to the 1995 Range Rover than the Disco II.

My D2 is off... 32" tires.. if the speedo says i'm going 60, i'm really going 65... I measured with GPS.

GPS is an easy way to check.

Also A D1 should be a mechanical speedo so depending on what's done swapping the speedo drive gear should get you closer to accurate.

Either that or just don't worry about it.

My speedo reads way low, at an indicated 22mph it is actually going over 30mph, sure it only gets worse as speed increases.

Disco 1 went to a 265/85/16 a whole lot taller than stock but when I guage it with those speed signs with the speedo clock on it 30 on my speedo is dead on 30mph on the sign...
