Default Diff Question??

I have installed new spider and side gears in my front diff. Is it possible for only the front wheels to be pulling? I tried to spin the rear wheels, but couldn't get them to spin! If this is possible, under what conditions would it happen?
Thanks

Good question, and I don't understand it. Are you saying that whith the truck off the dround, you can turn the front wheels but when you try turning the rear, they won't turn, do you have a front or rear locker, is your t/case locked?

Is the CDL engaged? If not, power only goes to the side (front or back) with the least resistance.

With the truck on the ground (all 4 tires) I can make the front spin by accelerating hard, but the rear does not spin. I am just inquiring because of the problem I had which is posted in the thread "Big Trouble"

Happens to most: as you accelerate the front of the truck becomes "lighter" and the back becomes "heavier" (the center of gravity shifts oh so slightly to the rear) - with less weight on them, the front tires overcome static friction and start spinning. Once the front starts spinning, the center differential will transfer most of the power to the front...
