Differential squaking? - Land Rovers Only

lately, and this is only a guess, i am getting the strangest noise and vibration from the centre console...sounds like a mid tone whinning...and it only happens in very hummid weather. For the record, since i bought the truck, i can't get it into 4 wheel lo. It does go into diff lock. Any thoughts...
