They are pretty easy to put on.. vigg designs blackouts comes with directions (most times!).. takes a little bit of soapy water and having 2 people make it easier.

I'm going to be putting instructions online within a day or two also.

I had a friend make mine and I put it on. They are kind of fun to deal with. Make friends with a vinyl sign guy. It helps.

They look bad ass when they are applied.

pics? what kind of paint did you use?

I want to wait till the paint starts to fade (shouldn't be too long, no hoodliner, lol) so I can use durabak on it.

mine is painted on to I got a 12 bucks in it looks great
used "ultra" flat black both spray and brush first brushed on with a dollar general brush left to right then spray over that with rattle cans looks great and Have had no issues
ps decals will not stick on the paint I tryed they come off so keep that in mind . (decals on painted black out . not black out decals ) just the clearify

Default Bonnet Blackout

I recently had to "peel" mine of from too many hard summers. I am considering having mine sprayed on..... My plan is to use line-X, as well as on some other bits as well.

I don't have experience with it, but it seems like rhino-lining would be difficult to clean. Wouldn't it trap mud in it, making it no longer a nice black?

to add to this question... if the rhino-lining wont turn to look dirty/ no longer a nice black....will the do-it-yourself roll-on bedliner stuff turn dirty looking?

I know this is a bit late but...here's a pic of both the vigg hood black out on my 03 DII and the painted black out on my 95 DI. The vigg is definitely better looking. The painted version was done by the p.o. It's hard to see the painted version in the pic.

i'm still thinking about doing rhino-lining or line-x this summer on my hood and fenders (fenders are fading, and the hood blackout would just look great). the only thing i worry about is heat getting trapped in the engine bay by the extra layer of truck bed liner. I talked to 2 different shops and said they would do a really thin coat on the hood and fenders unlike the normal thickness of the truck bed...any ideas on if it could effect the motor in hot weather conditions??

i know pete (jupiter rover) is wanted to do something like this too.

Flat black paint is the way to go IMO. There have been a lot of threads about this on many forums and I still haven't seen a compelling reason to use a decal, unless it's temporary or you're doing a restoration.

So what are you saying mine painted looks bad?

In 3 years in the hot florida sun tell me how that decal looks after it's weathered. Then you have a choice crappy looking sticker or peel/chisel that thing off your paint and replace or paint it

Mine starts getting messed up 10 min with a can of flat black and some masking tape and I'm good to go.

Oh yea paint was less than $5 how much is the decal?

i don't know i'd like to paint, but its too pricey to have someone else (i dont have the balls to rattle can my hood on a mint 04 lol). but i got qouted the same price for a Vigg to get my hood Rhinolined or Line-Xed. i just worry if heatsoak will become an issue with truck bed liner....

The photos of decals I've seen look more reflective that flat black paint. And that's the whole point of them, to reduce glare.
Well..for some I suppose it's the bling factor.

For me it was to hide the screw up on the repaint I did on the hood....

That and I wanted it to look a little different.
