Default Disco 1 not starting after heavy rains

Hi,

I got caught with my Disco 1 V8 petrol in some really heavy rains last night on the way home. This morning, when trying to start the car, the engine turns normally, but never starts.

I have checked the distributor cap and a couple of electrics and all looks fine (ps I am an amateur w.r.t to mechanics). I can see there is a lot of dirt all over the engine components, so it seems like water may have gotten somewhere it should'nt.

Should I just leave it to dry out?

Any idea's / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

After checking all the possible components that could have been affected by the rain, it turns out that I had a loose connection on my Ignition Coil (I had done some hard 4x4'ing earlier that day which may have caused the issue)

So I took your advice and check the connection on the Ignition coil, it seemed fine. I found a thread on discoweb about checking if the engine was flooded, to clear the cylinders they mentioned pulling the fuse for the pump and running it until it idles and dies out and throw the fuse back in... So I did that and it started, drove it around and it continually starts right up. I am still determined the original problem is moisture/water because of how many times it shows up right after it rains. I am going through everything with dielectric grease but would appreciate any further advice on what could be happening...
