Hope I don't violate any rules by posting about other sites, but a guy on Discoweb.org was talking about selling one. I believe it is in the general section, or the Discovery board. The thread was about a 1996 XD.
He said he was located in Charlotte, NC. Hope this helps, Chris |

Here is a link to the site.
http://www.discoweb.org/ The post is in the Discovery technical board section, on the second page and titled 1996 Discovery XD. I believe the info on the one for sale is like the last post or so... Chris |

There aren't many 1996 XD Discos. Those made in '96 (about 40) were intended for The TREK Dealership competition and ECO-Challenge. They were subsequently sold through dealerships, as used (and very) cars.
500 were made by Special Vehicles Div. in 1997, and were sold directly to the public by dealerships. 250 came to North America, and the other around the rest of the world. They have a metal ID plate rivetted to the radiator apron with the build date and serial number. They have no roof bars underneath Wilderness roof racks. '96s had roof bars, as they were takne off the standard Dico production line. My son has number 18, a friend has 14 and a 1996 ECO Challenge, and I think Serg's was number 40. They bring a slight premium, but generally sell between $6-9K If he reads this, My son, AAXD, may speak up, but he's leaving tomorrow for an extended patrol, and may not have time. He's was toying with the idea of selling his. |
