I posted this under accesories, but just in case..
Does someone out there have any pics of a mounted Discrete Winch Mount for a DiscoI (part number BA2144). I am trying to mount mine, but have some issues. The install guide from Bearmach is prettty simple, but the top of the mount reaches the top of the chassis before the bumper holes align, I tried several combinations but nothing works quite right. So any pics of a mounted one would be GREATLY appreciated! Chelo |

this is what I did with one ogf my rangies.
a ramsey r 8000 it comes with the mount plate, it looks like a piece of frame off a tractor trailer any how. I set the whole thing on a jack and lifted until the top of the winch was a bout 1 to 2 inches below the cooling fans and a/c condenser, the winch is about 20 inches long, the inner frame on a rover is 24 inches. at this time I took measurements and mocked a 3inchwide 1/4 inch thick angle iron about 10 inches long. I used the front bumper holes as guides, lowered the rig and tack welded. set it and lifted again to aling all went well. I welded the angle iron to the mount plate and used 1 inch long 5/16 thick uss thread grade 8 bolts just for safety to assist the angle iron in the plate (just in case the weld ripped) once set I lifted the plate again and marked two holes about 2 inches apart on the upper part of the angle iron resting against the frame, drilled and ran bolts across the frame similar to bumper mounting bolts. once that was set I bolted the winch and lifted all in place one more time for good. I has been about 6 years and it comes off once a year for maintenance clean up and inpection. trust me my winch gets used and abused. once the bumper is mounted the only thing you see is the hawse fairlee and the hook.... if they are painted black none sees anything unless they are looking for it. I will see if I can post pictures some time later |

Thanks for the info Carlos. I used the MM9500SE, and my install wasn't so "hi-tech"
After removing the brush guard the install went smooth, I guess that brush guard is not compatible with that winch plate. My neighbor and I hold the plate with the winch already installed on it and my wife got the bolts thru. |

Chelo,
It's not compatible with the brush guard because brush bars are not allowed in the UK. I had one of those winch mounts and got rid of it, it's kinda hard to access the winch if your stuck in mud. Later, John

interesting, I didn't know brush bars are not allowed in the UK, I wonder why?
Yea, the placement of the winch is not the best, but this will have to do until I have the cash for a decent bumper.. Luckily, here in Colorado we don't get much mud, mostly rocks. |

probably 'cause of the damage it can cause...specially in countries with smaller vehicles.

I second that about the damage, a year or two ago I was making a left turn on a very rainy day, Ihad the turn arrow and a woman on an 87 toyota camry
ran her light, se hit me head on on my brush guard and winch plate, her car wedged under my front end and pushed me bach some six feet moving at about 25 or 20 mph. she probably had the same speed any how her left front shifted completely to the right, both front tires blew up and the left front pushed back or shifted almost to the brake booster. I climbed over my hood to hers because I thougth se had been seriusly injured in stead she was still on the phone. my truck broke a set of hella rallye 3000, a set of bosh 550 driving ligths and shifted the top of the brush guard about 2 inches to the left. she totalled her car I drove back home. the insurance adjustor could not believe the difference between the damage to the camry and the outcome of my rover. |
