Default Don't disconnect battery?

Why is it I find all over the internet warnings about disconnecting the battery in my 96 Disco? May have to change that one out some day!

The main reason is because if you have a factory radio and don't have the radio code, you won't be able to use you radio.
Unhooking the battery for too long can errase alot of info from your ECU and then it has to go thru a long relearning curve over the next couple tanks of gas.

Rebelman -I have disonnected the battery many times without any trouble other than having to punch in the radio code. If you have two 4 foot wires (black and red is nice) with small alligator clips on each end, you should be able to hook up a new battery while maintaining current flow to the vehicle from the old battery.

Thanks. I thought so. If not for this forum, not sure what dense heads like myself would do?

They make a deal you can plug into the cigaretted lighter that keeps enough current so it doesn't re-set everything when you disconnect the battery, most parts stores have them.
