Default Door lock question

My drivers side door lock willl not fully unlock when I use the Keyless entry. If I turn the key it pops it up the balance. I have the door apart and it looks like the actualtor works. Now here is my question. Would it be in the latch itself or do actuators go bad but still function? It seems like it is just a hair off so I don't know wether to clean up the latch itself or should I invest in a new actuator.

Specs 94 Disco with 120K

Has anyone taken a door latch apart? Is it a pain to get out?

check out this thread and go down to my post: rear door lock
it definitely sounds like the spring on that latch broke.

Thank you so much.

I might try to fab an external spring. If it works I will post up a pic.

Ditto the broken spring. I've replaced two in the last 10 months. They're not impossible but patience is required. The cargo door just plain SUCKS though.

Do you have to remove the window track and regulator if you are doing the drivers door?

you don't have to remove the track, but you do need to raise it up out of the way to get to the latch. you don't need to remove the regulator at all.

The first time I went to door the rear cargo door I found an elastic band there in stead of a spring, I thought, ok thats cool, I replaced it with an elastic band (dumb ass) and now I have got to do all that bloody unscrewing of the sub woofer etc.... again to replace it with a metal spring.

enough said.

Those springs are available on ebay. I think I paid somewhere around $20 for five, including shipping.

If I were home, I could give you the info. However, if you search for parts for land rovers you should find a number of vendors. Buy the five pack. Worth the money and you'll eventually replace the others right? Just thinking ahead.

I spent about an hour trying to find a site selling the springs, no luck. I even tried searching Dweb. I did find a link but it's not working. If you want to try cgi.ebay.com/Land-Rover-Dics...100cmdzviewitem. Somehow that doesn't look right. Remind me to look for that info when I get home tonight.
