Driver side rear window regulator - Land Rovers Only

My 98 Disco made a pop when I rolled up my window the other day. The motor sounds like it is working fine. The regulator arm is up against the window. They only way for me to keep the window to stay up is to put a piece of rubber between the glass and the top part of the regulator arm. It has ripped up the window tint pretty bad. Questions: 1. should I purchase a new regulator arm or get a used one? 2. How difficult is it to replace one of these and are any special tools required? Thanks.

i'd say replace with a new one. those plastic rollers there will break again.
not hard at all to replace. you might need some small hands and arms to get inside the door. i think when i did mine it took about an hour and 1/2 of that hour was spent having a few cans of guinness and talking to the neighbour

The plastic slide most likely broke. Mine has done this. You can spend the $ and order a new one or pull out the existing and make a new slide with a nylon washer for 50cents. You will have to press it on but it is not hard and mine has worked for over 2 years. It's not that bad of a job but be sure to grease the slide.

You guys were right on. That little plastic roller broke. I just bought some washers for a couple of dollars and replaced it that way. Small arms and hands are right, it is tight in some of the places. There are a couple of bolts that will kick your arse, tricky little devils. If you decide to do this job use the website posted by Kferg, it is spot on.

well, that whole taking out the window frame isnt needed. I've seen this done on my rover and it took all of like 20 minutes. The frame/window didnt move.
