Default Which ECU needs replacing????

Good evening, my 94 Disco I no longer gives me the "3 light blink" when I lock it upon exiting. Would someone be kind enough to let me know which ECU needs replacing? the dealer said it would be around $800 to replace, and I am thinking maybe I could replace it a bit cheaper. thanks in advance.

Buy it! The information I am about to tell you is in this book.

Second..... Buy a new battery for your remote. That is your car telling you the battery is low.

thanks Elemental, have the book already, still doesn't answer the what of why the truck does not blink anymore (it did originally). Have a brand new battery in the FOB, so I fear the alarm ECU/M is shot (know where it is, thanks to the book you mention), just looking for verification from the experts here prior to spending the bucks to replace. thanks again.

Take a look at this.... Should offer some insight.

Let me look a little further, I may have gotten myself backwards. The lights blinking while ARMING is for dead battery.

Default ECU Location

The anti-theft ECU is located uder the glovebox. Look under the glovebox and you will see a metal rack with a bunch of relays attached. The ECU is a black plastic box attached to this rack. It will have two connectors and a round antenna wire attached to it. There is one nut (13mm?) on the metal rack. Remove this nut and the rack will swing down. There is a hinge at the back. Undo the two (7mm) nuts holding the ECU, disconnect the wires and the ECU will come right out.

I just picked up a Cruise control ECU and the anti-theft ECU from Will Tillery for $80 combined. His email is willtillery@roverguy.com

Good Luck,

Denis

If you find that you actually need an alarm ECU i have one out of a '96 I'm parting out and can save you some money. I also have an extra two button fob if you need one. Let me know if I can be of help.
Cheers,
Paul

Paul, you wouldn't happen to have the engine control ECU for a 96 with a 4.0?
