Hay fellas on my 95 disco I have another problem that surfaced it's ugly head. When ever I turn my lights on my dash lights go out, and the outside parking lights and rear lights cut off. I got pulled over also too lol... I called myself checking the fuse and it was fine, if it was the right one? ANY insights guys?
Thanks |

boogiedown27,
As these discos start aging, they'll face the problems that older rovers faced, but the electrical bits are harder to get to. So, if your parking lamps are on, your dash lamps are on as well? Ick, as a start, poke around to whereever you see a ground wire, disconnect, clean and reattach. Time consuming, but cheap and easy...Guess it could be the switch too, but before throwing parts at it, check the basics... Bogatyr

Take the cowl off of your steering column and check the connections on the switch on bottom left. There are two. One is the main lighting switch and the headlights, tail lights, and side lights circuits are through it. It could just be loose. If you want a photo, email me at wade@corridor.net. It was too large to attach.

Thanks..I found out today it's the switch!! I tried cutting on my bright lights and the light switch won't stay in place for the brights to stay on, and when I would hold the switch then my parking lights would come on?? But when I let it go the parking lights would cut off and just the head lights would be on..

i had a problem with my switch. at first my parking lights wouldnt turn on then the whole switch assembly melted. it smelled really bad..... got a new switch from british pacific and problem was fixed. the new switch also moves super smooth! if you find a d2 headlight switch, itll work on your d1.
