Default Engine treatment - Mystery Oil

Just got done doing an oil change on the Beast - would have been a really simple job if someone (I won't say who, but it wasn't me) hadn't over-tightened the plug and oil filter. I spent more time getting those two off than the rest of the activity.

I've been following several threads on oil treatments. I would love nothing more than to try out the Seafoam procedure that I've read so much about, but, alas, there is none available in Bolivia.

The only thing I can get here is the CD2, Wynn's and Marvel's Mystery lines of products. This time I tried out the Mystery Oil - haven't taken it out for a proper test drive, so I don't know if there's a noticeable difference, yet - I'll let y'all know if there's anything noticeable.

Has anyone else tried out the Mystery Oil? How does it compare with CD2 or Wynn's? Just curious...

Next week, I'm hoping to install the DBA rotor, EBC pad kit I got from DAP a few months ago. I'll picture document it for the files.

Cheers,

I have used Marvel on many of my vehicles over the years. I haave found that, especially after and engine flush, it is a great oil treatment to keep an engine really clean.
Don't expect to see an over night change in your engines performance unless you flush it first, but doing that and the adding marvel will help keep your compression up and the sludge down.

Good links. I used Seafoam through the intake on my truck last week and it seems to have smoothed out a little bit. Let it sit after adding almost a half an hour, but didn't get much smoke. I will be adding a full bottle to my motor soon and then will be dropping the pan and cleaning out the sludge and cleaning the oil pickup. I'll let you know how that goes.

Badger,
Did you run a whole can thru the induction system?
You might want to also clean out the throttle body and do an engine flush prior to pulling the pan.

Ran half a can through the induction system. Might do the other half this coming weekend too. I will be flushing the engine with the other bottle of Seafoam I have, then dropping the pan.

Badger,
Buy another can and use a whole one in your induction, letting it into the engine over 2 minutes os suction, let her sit for 30 minute then go drive the crap out of it. Use the last half can for your gas tank.

Drew,
They also make a transmission solution, which I haven't used yet, I like the Lucas tranny additive.

i used a whole can of seafoam in my induction system and i could feel the differnts shortly after. the more smoke that comes out the more carb build up u have in your system. also a great thing to do is clean out your pvc filter and check your tee piece and hoses that u pour the seafoam in.

mike or anyone, i use lucas fuel cleaner every 3,000 miles and was wondering how often should seafoam b added to the gas tank? also would that take place of the lucas fuel injector cleaner? should a whole bottle be used w/ a full tank?

i use the lucas tranny fix over the summer when i drained out the ATF and it also smoothed out my gears alot, its thick so i added some a wk ago and i had a problem when the engine was cold acouple of time and it would not shift out of 2nd to 3nd and i had to shift to N and shift back to D then no problems. i do not know if it was from the lucas that i added on a cold day? have not had problems since and only when the engine was cold.

SeaFoam is a pretty good cleaner for maintaining the crank case, but if you really want to cleane it go for 6 qts of ATF and a good 20 minute idle, which makes a hugh difference.
Good luck,
Mike
