Default extra mods for 3" and up

ive read as many posts as possible, but being new at this, i gotta ask...

props of a new job - i get any and all parts at cost. in light of this, im ordering lift springs asap. i want to go with 3"...if my 97 has U-joints already, can i make it without a new driveshaft? how long will my stock one last before i need to go replacing it, and how much are they?

thanks for the help!

On a D1. it is a roll of the dice when you get close to 3"s, I have heard many people say they are OK and some who said they had to replace the drive shafts with ones using double cardon shafts.
Who's lift are you going to use?

I am with mike.. I have seen the 3" work great with stock set-up.... Here is what I believe you need to do a 3" right

NEW:
Trailing arms
radius arms
extended brake lines
correct shocks etc.....

Driveshafts(if a vibration is created)

Mike,
i was going to go with OME since i can get them at cost thru my business. im prob gonna stick with 2", it looks like too much trouble just for an extra inch. bilstein shocks will go on with extended brake lines. im also looking for a bumper setup for the front so i can add extra lighting and get rid of that dang airdam.

I would suggest your use the 751 front coil especially if you arew going to run a front bumper. You won't need to replace the brake lines for the lift, would be a good idea if your rubber lines are starting though, it will give you a firmer brake pedal.

It's not lthe lift but the droop that's usually an issue with the brake lines.

Personally I think a 2" lift will work pretty well for most occasions, rock crawling is a bit of a dark art and I'm not the correct person to advise for such a setup.

But regardless for a 2" lift I'd go for the correct shocks and springs with cranked trailing arms and 3 degree castor correct front radius arms and longer brake lines.

If you wanted another inch of lift you could buy new rear shock mount droppers and heavy duty 1" shorter front turrets.

Are you trimming your wheel arches to fit the 33" rubber? And fitting spacers? You'll have to post some pics when you're done

ill take plenty of pics. i ordered the wheels from GCR today. tires will be here soon, and the 3" Big blues and longer shocks will be on the week after thanksgiving. is it remotely possible to find used trailing arms or radius arms that are modified? say if someone went from lifted back to stock? $600 is alot of cash for a college student.
