Front crank seal - Land Rovers Only

Anyone ever tackled this job???

My 97 D1 with a 4.0 V8 has a slight leak from the front crank seal that I wanna tackle in the coming months. The job doesn't look terribly bad, but there is a specialty Land Rover tool listed in the LR RAVE manual for pulling the seal. What are you shadetree mechanics out there doing to pull the seal? For 9 bucks for the seal, I can't just sit there and let that thing leak. Please help me out.

Hopefully someone else has done this before.

15-minute job. Be sure to check the h-dampner for a ware groove. If it's grooved, aluminumv8 sells a sleeve to cover the groove.

Thanks for the heads up, but I need to know if I am in need of a LR specific specialty tool to get the old seal out and in. If not, what do I use?

I have the same problem on a 96 Lr. Just put some O'reilly special stop leak in and does not leak much at all now. Of course, it depends on how bad the leak is, one drop or two a day!

Doesn't leak bad at all, but like I said for a 9 dollar seal I should just fix it.
