Default Front driver side oxygen sensor connector

WTH where they thinking? I spent 5 minutes getting the actual oxygen sensor out.. Been working on trying to get the connector disconnected for almost 3 hours! Who was the idiot who designed this anyways? There just is not enough room to get you hand down to the connector to pull it off, I'm resorting to taking a knife and trying to cut it off the metal holder. I would seriously like to find the engineer responsible for the placement of this item and beat him to within inches of his life....

What is the damn trick to this? I have searched and searched but no one even acts like they have had this issue? It would be easier to just screw the connection cut the wires and wire it to the new sensor. The only way I even see this connector coming about it to (like me ) try to hack it off or drop the tranny.

I thought that land rovers where originally meant to be work horses, able to be repaired in the field.... not this baby I tell you.

use brake clean on the connector to free up the crap inside.

but yes sometimes they do stick.

It's not that, its where the connector actually connects to the metal holder attached to the top of the tranny. I can not get it off there to even begin to try to disconnect the two plugs. I'm just going to cut the wires, and solder them to the new Oxygen sensor and use the old plug. I see now why they sell these without the ends in the first place.

same thing the rust builds up and it traps it.

plus the heat builds up a bit. trick is ot to rip it off the pan.

I face this crap all the time working on rovers and other vehicles. You get used to it after a while.

I finally just went ahead and cut the wires and just soldered them to the new sensor. Took 5 minutes...

I have to do the other front sensor in the morning, hoping this one goes better.
