Default Gaiter Kits ?

Looking for comments on Gaiter Kits for Swivel Housings. Are they worth it or not?

I don't know much about them. I guess anything that helps protect 'your balls' from dirt, mud etc, is not a bad idea.

not so much a review as a sales ad. When the military uses them, it actually changes the maintenance schedule intervals- they have to service them more often because it traps grit, moisture etc. Even condensation can be a problem with no ventilation.

If you take them off road there is a good chance they rip on rocks or sticks. and x2 on the water traped on the inside. maybe not a bad idea for winter Street driving to avoid the salt.

Thanks everyone. I think I will hold off on the gaiters awhile. I am currently using the regular oil in the housings. Can't make up my mind whether the new grease is better or not? Also, does anyone know the answer to this one? Do you have to have an alignment done if you put a new bumper and winch on the vehicle because of the added weight? Thanks Again

I wouldn't think so, however this will depend on how much extra weight you have added. If the front end of your vehicle is sagging after the install you will need to fit heavy duty springs, and then, just as a general maintenance procedure, have a wheel alignment done.

Thanks. I guess the new bumper system and winch weighs about 300#. I already put 2" Big Blue springs on and it did not sag much at all after installing the new bumper. Maybe I can get by without new alignment.
