Default Gas tank replacement

How serious of a job is that? when i bought the truck the guy gave me a letter stating that there was a recall bla bla bla .... do i just call up a dealership and setup a appointment....how long does it usually take? and does the dealership end up charging you for hidden fixes... like " o u needed to have you transfer case dropped and resealed is going to be 5000 dollars" ??? maybe not that extreme

leave it for a day.

You own a very old vehicle and stuff will break.

If the lines on the pump are so rusted out that it breaks when they may be able to warrantee it. Hell I have had to replace all the hoses from cracking and the pump from breaking. Ask the service writer about it.

Now if you have a no start situation caused by a bad pump they will charge you for it. Especially if you get it towed in.

Its not a hard recall it is just laborious because the vehicles are old and rusted up.

They may and most likely will look it over for any work they can glean from it. Nothing wrong from that. So they might give you a list of stuff you should replace and the like.

Agreed, my local dealer had the truck for about 6 hours. Since our 96 Disco has almost no rust, I warned the service manager that any problems with the fuel pump within 30 days after the tank replacement would be LR's responsibility - he didn't even blink. There has been no problem at all.

Took two days with mine, ( didnt have the part yet ), I had a new fuel pump so I didnt worry, BUT, 3 months later the fuel pump died, and I suspect its their fault since the fuel pump had a little over a year of driving on it.

any owner of any vehicle that is ten years older or less should take their vehicle to the local dealer to check for any open recalls that may affect their vehicle.

Bring a copy of the registration with you and ask the Service dept to look up the history and or open recalls.

When I bought my mercury tracer the first thing I did was to run the vin for open recalls. that way I knew I would be safe.
