Thumbs down headers a no go :(

after much searching on the net and many phone calls to Summit Racing and Headman, finally decided not to go with the headman headers. they are made for a right hand drive and come with no holes for o2 sensors, etc...too much work. unfortunately, that was the ONLY company I could find in the U.S. that sold LR headers. any last resorts? anyone?

They fit LHD trucks too- and welding in O2 sensor bungs should only cost $20.
Fitting them in a beeyach, but they fit with a little work.

Whats the big deal about adding the O2 fitting, the benefit from the headers is really worth it.

well the O2 sensor thing is not the only thing stopping me...reviews say these headers are thin and not too high of quality, (heck, they only cost $130) and you have to bend some kind of steering bar or somethin like that, and i dont think my mechanic is up for the hassle. Anyone on LRO live close enough to me to drive down and install em? Your troubles will earn you $$

A couple of people had to heat one of the pipes and bang it a couple times to make a small dent to clear the steering shaft. Some other times, it's not necessary. The headers will last a long time if you paint them and don't let them rust.

you've obviously been looking in all the wrong places

you can fit the HH on (we've done it many times) or you can get the right headers for a LHD vehicle...

So the Headman's will fit without mods and allow me to pass smog? All I would need to do then is drill the holes for the front O2 sensors?

Have you checked Ebay... I think TODDCO (sp?) has a set of headers they are selling for LRs... just another place to look.

yeah i figured, but the reason i said im going to go ahead and order them: my mechanic said it would be worth a shot. why? because they have a 90 day return policy! im gonna have them shipped to him, if he has to go thru hell to get them on, we are gonna mail em back and get a full refund. not bad if you ask me... headers or no headers, im getting a full exhaust from the manifolds back with new cats and FM 50 series for $250. score!

You can't return them if you have to heat up one of the pipes to move it away from the steering rod. It's not a big deal to do that- it's common when putting headers in ANYTHING that they need tweaking. You'll have to pop the motor mounts to jack the engine up when fitting them as well- great chance to swap in new motor mounts and they're cheap.

alright, I ordered the headmans this morning. Next week the rover is getting new headers and a full 3" exhaust and FM 50 series muffler, all fluids changed, all filters changed (thanks DAP!) and new Bosch plugs and wires. hopefully ill get a few MPGs and a few horsies out of her after spending all this money!
