Default help! motor running on brake line system

I hope someone can help me.
I looked through almost all the threads to see if someone had this happen to them before I posted and nothing.
I have a 95 Disco I, and today when I shut off the landrover I heard a small motor running under the hood so I opened the hood and notice a unit that has lines coming from the brake system. I noticed the motor (2) was the unit running. ok now this is with the key out of the Landrover. So I unplugged (1) and the motor stopped. jumped in and drove it around the block with no effects to the brake system.
What gives? why is this motor running now all the time. I am sure if I leave it plugged in it will run the battery down
Any info will help
Thanks to this forum I have found so many remidies to most all of my problems.
Thanks all

That electric motor powers your ABS (Antilock brake system). Your brakes should work properly with the motor 'unplugged' but the anti lock function is lost. In other words you are back to the older brakes us old guys know. It may be that your ignition switch is sending power to many systems even in the OFF position or it could be some other power supply problem.
Try wiggling the key a bit in the OFF position before you remove it....It's difficult to understand how it could be a sensor problem causing the problem with the ignition off. IMO, if it's not the ignition switch, you should go to a good brake shop and ask for a free diagnosis. Some shops will do this service for free, others won't. You might end up at an electrical shop or at the dreaded dealer. A new ABS pump is expensive. Best of luck.

Ok I have a final word here if anyone else has this problem.
All I did was unplug the motor for 24 hours. When I plugged it back in the motor was no longer stuck running and now the ABS light is back off and I am back in business. Thanks to all that read and use these forums. I wish I had a few more replies to my question but all worked out ok and I hope if someone has the same problem unplugging this helps them too.... what a waste to pay Dealer fees for this item to just be reset..... I wish everyone great LandRover days ahead

You might want to flush the brake system, old burned brake fluid could cuse the ABS valves to possibly get stuck, I know as brake fluid gets burned it gets acidic and cna take out seals. This may not keep the problem from coming back but it would be good for the brake system.
