Hi there and need much needed assistance. I have to have my vehicle repaired by October or it will not pass inspection. I have a 1996 D1 with no working oxygen sensors.
In the NYC Tri-state area and to all those living on the list, who is your favored LR mechanic that I can also trust will fix my D1? |

There's some guy over in Paramus that people speak highly of, but I have no personal knowledge of his capabilities. Most of my stuff, I work on myself, but when my son had trouble with his '97 D1, he took it to John Robison, in Springfield, and had great service, and fast. We took my wifes Porsche up when we picked up the Disco, and had him do some serious stuff, and it now seems like a new car. He's 20 minutes up the road from Hartfrod. Perhaps, if you called ahead, he maight be able to take it right in while you waited. I know it seems like a nit of a hile with gas being what it is (AAXD just called to say NH prices DROPPED .30 overnight, and MA went up .15 go figure?) but a expensive good shop is always cheaper than a lousy cheap shop. Man do I love my 14CUX system. (most of the time)

Guy in Paramus is Vinnie (Import Specialist). He's very good but takes too long. In Astoria you have Ricardo (Argentinian).
The O2 sensors are pretty easy to replace, why not install them your self? Get them from Nathan at Discount British Parts. Good luck.

Try Scott at www.expeditionimports.org . He's a very good friend of mine (10+ years) and has done a lot of work for me when I lived in LI.

Did not get much but much appreciated nonetheless.
To all those in the hit area of the hurricane, whether or not you receive this, my prayers to you. As for the D1, next week it will headed out for long needed repairs. Adam in NYC (nothing like gas for $4.00 a gallon to make ones day) |

Many of the gas stations around here use Island Transportation, a known trouble gas transport company with a long history of accidents with their fuelers. Island Transportation does not get better, they just pass their insurance costs to ther customers. They are the ones that burnt down a neighborhood in the Bronx, and had those melted bridges on the New York Thruway in Yonkers and the recent damaged bridge up in CT (Yea, them). I usually go to McGennis Blvd for cheap premium in Greenpoint myself whenever I foray into Queens and Brooklyn. However, the local gas stations in the Bronx and Manhattan have raised their prices to hit their prime customers, taxicabs and the driving public. My geographical closest gas station is up the hill and as of Thursday was 3.75/gallon. I posted that price on a gas watch site: http://www.newyorkgasprices.com/ It isn't even on the top of the list. Where do you siphon your gas? Adam in NYC Alright, prices are down below 3.00/gallon! |

I usually go to Mcguiness/ greenpoint avenue the Hess station is usually cheapest. Or sometimes down greenpoint ave a bit, there is a 76 station, premium is cheaper there by 2 cents sometimes. I get regular for the LR nowadays, and premium for the Merc ML. On the way from greenpoint to ridgewood, right before that small bridge, that big BP gas station is cheap too.
