Question HELP! No Power to Stereo or Blower?

Vehicle: 96 LR Disco I 102K

Problem: While installing an aftermarket hookup for an aux. ipod input, I forgot to disconnect the neg. lead to the battery, and crossed some wires which sparked. Now, the stereo will not power up and the blower for heat/defrost/AC etc does not work.

I have done the following: Checked each and every fuse at the main fusebox and the one under the hood. I also checked the fuse on the radio. All fuses are fine and I cannot figure out what could have happened. Is it possible I fried the ECU? Or what about an open wire? What are the chances there is an inline fuse somewhere I can't find that might have been shorted?

BTW, I already read the Discovery Factory Repair manual and did not see anything about inline fuses or any troubleshooting information about this.

ANY HELP MUCH APPRECIATED!!

William

There are no inline fuses in there... you might have cooked a common ground used by both of those systems. Yikes...

Default Ground is not the problem...

I just checked the stereo by grounding it from another wire, and NO POWER!
I am thinking I fried the stereo and the blower. I am going to test a stereo I know works and see if that does it. As for the blower, I am going to get to it and see if there is power going to it and troubleshoot from there. Does anybody have a better idea?
