Well they are at least as good as any other 4x4 in production today or in the last 50 years.

Make sure you engage diff lock and drive according to the conditoins. Tyres will likely play a big part of how much grip you have. Also remember while you may have sueprior traction over other vehicles in terms of being able to make progress you will still have limited grip when it comes to cornering and braking.

They are great in snow.. You will be very pleased!!!!! We are a rescue team in the bad weather!!! My neighbors actually have us drive them around when the snow is bad..... I have a few pics!!

Here is where I got stuck...But don't worry.... the plow bwhind me is stuck also.....LMAO!!! They came back with front loaders a bit later.. It was about 6feet deep..LOL... and a football field long..... I made it is about 25 yards...LMAO!!! Getting me out took a bit...

Here is Rovertrain...His is pretty much stock.. I don't have many snow pics of him...but he does what we do(almost %100)

The weakest link is usually the driver's skill. I've used my old DI many times to drive hospital employees to work when even the Nat'l Guard H1's were getting stuck. The DII is a little better with the traction control and the Freelander is by far better than either in snow.

Great pictures and not a trace of yellow snow anywhere. Not many areas here in Oz that gets snow.

Ok thanks mates, you've convinced me to purchase a Discovery. But are the first generations better then the second for snow? Or the other way.

Smooth underside- no straight axes to snowplow with. Light weight, traction control that works better than that of a DII, same power as a DI... they ROCK in snow. If you've never driven a Freebie in the snow, it's a lot of fun. Stab the throttle a couple of times and kick out the ETC and you can drift it nearly endlessly.
