I can get everything off to it......wood trim, etc.......except the black cover around it! How do you do that?.....and does anyone know if it's a costly plastic replacement pc? Thanks... |

Kelli,
You need to pop the t-handle off first. Push in the button and pull or yank it striaght up. Once the handle is off, you need to pry up the black trim, being careful to not scratch the wood, try a large flat screw driver. Mike |

Please tell me that I can pull the t-handle off in park?
I tried that once and I couldn't get it off! I don't think I had the button pushed in though....Does anyone know the $$$ for the part?..or #? Thanks Mike... (oh great, I'm going to break something... ) |

From what I can tell, that is a D1. On a D1, you have to take the faux wood cover off the top of the t-handle, first.
Inside, there is a little clip which holds the button into the gear selector shaft. Remove that clip and pin, and pull the button out towards the drivers side. Once the button is removed, the t-handle will come off by pulling up. |

Same problem with mine. Cost to replace is $130 new. That was at the Richmond, VA dealership on my last trip. It's still on their shelf. The film portion used to be supplied by Land Rover but they discontinued it. Now the whole assembly has to be purchased. There's a site on eBay that sells used ones for about $98 plus shipping. I just won a bid on one for $55 and have to work out shipping to Europe.
