Default its worse after tune up- ignition nightmare

Hello, I am the unlucky owner of a 95 Disco-
thought I might give it a tune up- so I changed the cap, roter plugs and a new set of wires- It kicked over once, ran very ruf, I noticed I had 2 wires crossed, now i'm not sure if they are in the correct location on the distributer- now it wont even start!!- I made it worse. pulled the plugs, they were gas-soaked, so I put another new set in, and the old wires back on- now it just attempts to start,eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh is the sound it makes-
and I cant get a straight answer from the dealer or any parts suppplier as to where to begin the 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 rotation on the distributer- i may have all the wires in the wrong location

point well taken, I have repaired the 95 for 6 years with no problems, brakes, tunes, repairs ect... I brain farted on this one, thanks for the link, but Number one wire "facing" the distributer doesn't really describe which position the number one plug goes in

Well if all else fails you can always resort back to the old school method. #1 @ TDC with both valves closed. The see where your rotor is positioned that is #1 on the Dizzy.

I can't help you on the position of the number 1 spark plug wire on the distributor but I would ask what plugs and wires did you install, Understand you have crossed the wires, just wondering about the plug and the correct heat range.
By the way, when you get this fixed, change out your fuel filter, most forget them and they are important and do plug up.

I found a great downlaoder to get the full shop manual for Discoverys it covers almost everything - TDi 3.9 4.0- this is the manual that most places want up to 155 for- it works on a PDF Adobe WOO HOO it was only 19.95
I used Taylor Cable wire, Champion plugs- gaped at .034, new cap /roter
i double checked the plugs wires they are in the correct order, Maybe i tripped the fuel pump cut off, or my bat is low, charging it now and hit the reset button for the fuel

i have a fuel pump problem, nd a solution

my loses pressure when not in use (parked)

turn the key to the ON position, but dont crank it, wait a couple of seconds, (i crank as soon as i hear my music, or empty light go off) then crank it nd see what happens

for me this is all i ever have to do, no big deal at all

ok, I have fuel pressure, fuel pump cut-off reset- Relay is good- and when I depress valve on fuel rail I got a face full of gas-
next I put another dist cap on, cleaned the NEW set of plugs, and installed the wires that were on it when it was running, put a screwdriver inside the spark plug and had someone crank the engine- got jolted up to my shoulder, and the throttle body is free of any debri- got air-gas-and spark and with an optima battery fairly new, with a booster pack hooked just for fun all it does is go eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-, starter is only 2 years old -guess its off the dealer
