Most fuel injection places here in the UK will clean petrol injectors,it is done in an ultrasonic cleaning tank the same as jewellers use. They then reverse flow them to dislodge and remove any dirt particles in the tiny filter in them.

that explains why their is a core on the injectors.

had one recently with a few bad injectors.

it would dump so much raw gas into the oil it would really hurt your eyes.

not to mention before I pulled out the rail I used a boroscope to see what injector was opening up immediately after turning off the key.

it was number five and it actually filled up the cylinder with gas.

needless to say it held for a long time overnite actually.

Smile leaking injecters

Thanks for the responses -Ibelieve im leaking on three injecters (the plugs smell of gas )I know its best to replace all the injecters but can you just do the 3 which are leeking? Im on my way of getting the holy grail(shop manual)but in the mean time I bought a haynes manual on fuel inj.It doesnt seem too hard on replacing injecters but saying that I most always end up redoing the same job 2-3 times because I forgot something.Hopefuully someone can give me some valuable pointers before attempting the job.-please-.Im really thankfull to have such a great forum to get so much info. Its like a small brotherhood/(sister) willing to help eachother out-and to ,at all costs stay away from the stealership. Thanks again wiseguy.

www.lindertech.com

Get a set of Bosch systle injectors from Jim..... These guys know their stuff.

The lucas ones are total garbage, dotn even bother cleaning them.

If one is leaking, swap them all out...

To confirm, pull out the fuel rail with the electrical connection off, but the Fil and return lines still attached.... WIth the fuel rail out, pressuring the system by turning the key to II..... ANY leakage is a failure.

Default fixed injecters

Hello all-[thought i would let you know what happenedI ended up buying some injecters off e-bay used which I know was kind of frickin risky but for 10 dollars plus shipping i said what the hell!Anyways theres always a first -and for changing fuel injecters this would be my first. After reading a haynes injecter book,Idove in.On a scale of 1-5,Id say a three, not to bad. When I finished and put everything back together(fingers crossed) I started the ignition, on the third click of the key- boom- not literaly she fired right up. Since I ve owned this 96 disco she has always taken like 8-10seconds of trying to turn over befor actually turning over. So now as you could imagine its like having a new disco!I love this car-Ive done more repairs than on any other car or truck. but for some strange reason she is my favorite- until the next time you all, have a good one.
