Default Lets Talk Discos

so i recently just got a 1995 disco. well kinda.
but anyways, i want to talk about lifts (2" and up, where to get them, what tires would fit) rims (what other models would fit on a Disco 1[p38s, disco 2s, LR3s maybe]) and other off road things that you like to have when your off road. suggestions man. thats what im looking for. my disco already has a roof rack with a safari basket, a brush guard, and a rear access ladder (look at the pic under my name) and does anyone know if the 95 discos come stock with coil suspension, or is it ridin on air suspension.
thanks for.... well ya thanks. in advance.

If you look thru the wheel wells you will see coils. Lots of lift kits available, Rovertyme seems to be popular. Atlantic British is my source and RoversNorth have a lot of good kits. With 2" lift 285 tyres will fit, don't forget extended stainless brake lines for the lift.

Lift kits depend on what you want to do with the truck. If it's just for the look then a simple kit will work. If it's to improve off road ability then you need to address droop too.

Poly bush kits, cranked trailing arms, camber correct radius arms are all good. You then need to decide on retained springs or a dislocating system. Most will run revised rear upper shock mounts and longer shocks with suitable springs.

If you are prepared to cut the arches you can fit much bigger tyres without a lift. I've got 33.11.50R15's on mine.

One piece of advice I've learned to give is that one should spend all the available time and money fixing anything that might be wrong with the truck first. Also, before any modifications take place, you should go out and wheel your local terrain in stock form and see what it is that you'll need. The D1 is very capable in stock form when everything works properly. You dont need to do too much to truly make it an all-terrain vehicle.

yeah i went out and wheeled on just some small areas stock, and turned the truck almost completely sideways without tipping it. it was awesome. when it rains some more than it did today im am going to go again, and i am probably going to go tuesday or thursday. As for basic maintenance, these are repairs im planning on,

new bosch plugs (just bought)
oil (synthetic mobil 1 oil) (installing tomorrow)
mobil 1 oil filter (installing tomorrow)
new belt
new windshield
replace brakes
air filter
fuel filter
power steering hose or seal (whichever one is leaking)

after that im going to start modding probably with a lift kit

just pulled codes today, 7th cylinder misfiring like i expected, and i am pretty sure it is a bad plug so i am going to fix that tomorrow, along with changing the oil.
