Hi Roverless, welcome.
I'm sure you will like your new Rover and I know you will find this forum helpfull to to help diagnose and fix small and big problems. I have a 96 Discovery with aprox 190,000 km. Had it for almost a year and had nothing serious go wrong. I've not had it off road yet, figured I should get the feel of it first. Hopefully I can try some light off road stuff this spring and summer. Good luck Ed |

if your disco loses its right side running lights/rear lamps and the dash lights don't panic! remove your glove box lamp, replace the fuses under the dash and don't worry about it happening again!

Soon-to-be-Ex-Roverless, welcome to the 'club'. Hope you will really enjoy your Landy. With a little luck, you should have years of driving pleasure. A couple of points worth mentioning.
Phone ahead to ask for the following items before you go to pick her up: 1 the (original) owners manual is really useful 2 the jack (passenger side front of engine bay, just in front of the aircleaner box) and tire iron (in vinyl bag under rear seats). Note the factory tire iron is next to useless - get yourself a really big and strong commercial grade "T" and loosen and retighten all the wheel hardware. 3 the original roof rack cross pieces - not very strong but nice to have if you discover something 5' long you want to bring home (also stored in the vinyl bag under the rear seats) 4 if the wheels have those locking lug nuts, then you need the special socket to get them off. There should be one on the spare also. Make sure you get the 4 regular lug nuts that the locking ones replaced. 5 if possible, get any records about the work that has been done. This can be very useful info in future. 6 there was a recent factory gastank recall/replacement - has the tank been replaced? 7 check the front edge of the dash board up near the inside of the windshield - has it delaminated (we got a new dash under warranty)? Without taking anything away from these great vehicles, expect to take particular and regular interest in her wellbeing (wellness?) Remember, she's not a Toyota Corolla! Best of luck! |
