Although I am more concerned with my vibration issue (another thread) let me ask about this. It bothers me
![]() My interior light in the front will not always work ,more times not. The rear does. The front works when I put it on manually. I have pushed the knobby on the door and it seems fine but does not work. I took off the plate and dont' know what to do I like that it will dim off after getting in and out of the vehicle and now it doesn't Can anyone help me?

If you have got the cover off the light, pull out the fuse type globe and have a look at it. It could be blown, in which case replace it. If it isn't, put it back in and see if it works. It might be just a bad connection. If it still doesn't work, get back to us.

I expected to see more than one light since one worked and the other didn't. Thank you so much! Tune in for an update.

Update
I took the bulb out, looked at it, put it back. Still nothing. I then did what I have been doing and pushing in the thingie in the door. I have pushed, stared, and pushed again. Well today I PULLED the thingie in the door and I hear the ding ding ding again (failed to mention that before) and low and behold the light is on So lets put that in the LandRoversonly.com manual for future reference Yippee!! ![]()

The little "Thingy" Is a switch. It has only one wire connected to it, which makes a ground when the door is opened. If it is the same one (and I think it is, but it's too cold to walk outside and check) as used in the Defender doorpillars, it's held in with one screw. Take it out and look at the contacts. They are likely corroded, as moisture loves to hide inside the door pillars. A little squirt with contact cleaner or WD40, then work the contact surfaces abit, will cure it for a long while.

...It is, in fact as Terry mentions, held in with a small phillips head screw. I also concur with his recomendation - it sounds like either the contact is fouled or the mechanism is dirty and the spring can't break the connection when you close the door - 5 minute job even for someone who isn't mechanically inclined. This may have also caused some issues with your alarm (I haven't had the LR alarm in a while, so I can't say for sure). Cheers,
