Default Mufflers: What kind?

I was just thinking to myself earlier what would make a good, cheap mod, and I was wondering what y'all have used to replace your muffler or exhaust system.

I'm thinking either removing the muffler, and just running straight pipe in it's place and leaving the resonator, or getting a Summit Turbo muffler and removing the resonator. Don't need the brand names, I'm not building a Rolex here...

From the front I took out both cats first that makes a huge diff regards extra-power, then replaced the main muffler with a stock 3 series BMW main box (these are a straight through type that give a nice sound, bore size 2 3/4") then to the rear with 2 3/4" pipe to a cheery-bomb unit (straight through also) then out to a Holden HSV tail pipe. Sound's premo and was very cheap to do, like $400 NZD for the lot
